BookExpo America 2015 puts China in the spotlight
Nearly 10,000 kinds of Chinese books will be displayed at BookExpo America 2015, with China being the Guest of Honor for the first time, according to China's national press administration on Sunday.
China will send 150 publishing companies and groups to attend the expo, which will last from May 27 to 31 in New York in the United States, organized on the Chinese side by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT).
As the Guest of Honor, China will host more than 120 special events, including a summit forum of publishers, Chinese book publicity and promotion, and artwork exhibitions. Twenty-six well-known Chinese writers will also carry out cultural exchanges and dialogues with their foreign peers.
The expo this year will be the largest Sino-US publishing exchange activity since the establishment of Sino-US diplomatic relations in 1970s, according to the SAPPRFT.
The Chinese Guest of Honor events will fall into seven categories, such as digital books, translated Chinese masterpieces, books on the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII and books from Chinese ethnic minorities.
